May 2024 Writing Contest

 

New for 2024, we’re bringing back the Scribbler subscriber writing contest. Each month we’ll provide a short story prompt and give our box and slim subscribers a chance to write their way to fantastic prizes! Best part - as a subscriber, it’s FREE to enter.

The Prompt:

School's Out for Summer: School had just let out for the summer, and Emma stood on the edge of her quiet neighborhood, staring at the mysterious, overgrown path she had never dared to explore. With her best friend Max by her side, they decided to spend their first day of freedom uncovering the secrets hidden within the tangled woods. As they ventured deeper, they stumbled upon an old, forgotten treehouse filled with artifacts from a time long past, sparking an adventure that would change their summer—and their lives—forever.

The Prize:

 

The winner will receive a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card and their entry will be featured on the Scribbler blog. What will you buy with your gift card? A book, perhaps? The world is yours. 

The runner-up will receive a $25 Scribbler gift card and will also have their entry featured on the Scribbler Blog.

Formatting and Submitting Your Entry:

Submissions must be 1,000 words or less, double-spaced, and in 12 pt. Times New Roman. Your entry should be sent in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format to contests@goscribbler.com. Entries must be received by 6/15. Winners will be announced at the end of June.
