January 2024 Writing Contest

New for 2024, we’re bringing back the Scribbler subscriber writing contest. Each month we’ll provide a short story prompt and give our box and slim subscribers a chance to write their way to fantastic prizes! Best part - as a subscriber, it’s FREE to enter.

The Prompt:

The Time Capsule: Tell the story of a group of friends who bury a time capsule as children, only to discover it years later, revealing unexpected consequences and changes in their lives.

The Prize:

 

The winner will receive a retro-inspired typewriter-style Bluetooth keyboard with backlit LED round keys. Old-school writer vibes indeed. The winning entry will also be published in its entirety on the Scribbler Blog along with a short feature on the author.

The runner-up will receive a $25 Scribbler gift card and will also have their entry featured on the Scribbler Blog.

Formatting and Submitting Your Entry:

Submissions must be 1,000 words or less, double-spaced, and in 12 pt. Times New Roman. Your entry should be sent in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format to contests@goscribbler.com. Entries must be received by 2/15. Winners will be announced on 2/27.
